GINGRICH

 

Jean Ann Gingrich, 76, of Delaware, Ohio, formerly of Rockford, Ohio, passed away on Monday morning, September 7, 2020, at Willowbrook Christian Village, where she was a resident in the Passages Memory Care.  

She was born October 18, 1943, in Rockford, Ohio, to Pleasant “Brownie” and Ilean (Book) Martz. 

 

She was a graduate of the Rockford High School Class of 1961.  While in high school, she was active in softball, Hi-Life, and Speech.   After graduation, she worked at Central Mutual Insurance Group in Van Wert, Ohio.  She was a faithful member of the Calvary United Brethren Church in Rockford. 

 

On December 19, 1964, she was married to William Charles Gingrich of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, who survives in Delaware.  During their 55 years of marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Gingrich resided in Ft. Wayne, IN; Rockford, Ohio; Lima, Ohio; Apple Valley, Minnesota; Lombard, Illinois; and Delaware, Ohio.  Jean was an administrative assistant and proofreader at N. American Baptist Conference in Oakbrook Terrace, for 14 years.  They lived in Lombard, Illinois until October of 2016, when they moved back to Ohio, to Delaware. 

 

Jean and Bill had four children:  Curtis Lee (Deanna) Gingrich of Powell, Ohio; Christopher Allen  (Patricia) Gingrich of DeKalb, Illinois; Patricia Diane (Marc) Sweeney of Xenia, Ohio; and Jennifer Ilean (Paul) Huffaker of Bourbonnais, Illinois, all who survive.  Also surviving are 11 grandchildren:  Jonathan, Emily, Joshua (Mackenzie), Justin, Jacob, Sarah, Rachel, Benjamin, Anna, Kyle, and Nichole, and two great grandchildren, Titus and Roman.

 

Deceased in addition to her parents is a brother, Robert “Bob” Martz.

 

Jean loved her grandchildren; she enjoyed spending time watching old time television shows, and spending time with all of her family.

 

Funeral services for Jean will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2020, at 3:00 p.m., at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, Ohio, with Pastor Joshua Haight  officiating. 

 

Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.  Friends may call prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home, from Noon until the time of the service at 3:00 p.m.  Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.

 

Although family and friends are invited to attend Jean’s visitation and services, we continue to be cautious and concerned for those who are most vulnerable, the elderly and those with serious health issues.  We strongly urge everyone to remain vigilant and respect the well-being of the family members and friends.  Attendees are asked to observe social distancing, refrain from close physical contact, and wear facial coverings as required by state mandate.
