MESSNER
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Betty J. Messner, age 96 of Celina, Ohio on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 surrounded by her children.

She was born on February 1, 1924 in Connersville, Indiana to the late Paul D. and Addie Belle (Miller) Belcher.  She married Samuel Messner on  March 11, 1944.

Betty had a loving devotion to her family and her home, where she raised her children and spent countless weekends spoiling her grandchildren.  She had a passion for gardening, tending to her home, and cooking for her family.  Betty was an avid exerciser, walking many miles every morning - even into her early 90’s.  She also regularly attended Grand Lake United Methodist Church in Celina.

Betty worked at the telephone company and at Sears as a phone operator, where she retired after many years of service.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Samuel A. Messner (October 14, 1999).  Surviving are her children, Linda Fogt, Sidney, Ohio, Samuel A. (Gloria) Messner Holland, Ohio, and Paula (Rich) Rolfes, Celina; a brother Ira (Marilyn) Belcher, Celina;  7 grandchildren, Dusty, Erick, Jean, Jessica, Ronda, Jody, Heather; 23 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.  She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bud and Bob Belcher; and sister, Donna Kline.

The Messner family would like to thank the staff and nurses of The Miller Place in Celina, where Betty was a resident.   We will be forever grateful for the care and comfort they provided her the past two years.

Private funeral services will be held on Friday September 4, 2020 at 11:30 at The Cisco Funeral Home in Celina, with Rev. Matt Overman officiating: where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow at North Grove Cemetery Celina, Ohio.
