HINES
Diana Lynn (Johnson) Hines, age 73, of Rockford, passed away Thursday, 

October 28, 2021, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.

 

She was born December 20, 1947, in Van Wert, to the late Ervin W. & 

Leota G. (Pangle) Johnson.

 

Diana and Paul Marshall "Mart" Hines were married on September 4, 1965.  

He preceded her in death July 27, 2021.

 

Surviving are their daughters: Teresa (Dean) Wells of Huber Heights, Virginia 

(Tom) Kline of Rockford, and Christina (Lee) Berry of Mendon, 12 grandchildren, 

19 great grandchildren, her sister, Sue Wenning, of Rockford, sister-in-law,

Gerry Johnson, of Sewickley, PA, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Jim 

Hines of St. Marys, Larry (Gracie) Hines of Bristol, VA, and Gwen Bay of Dayton.

 

She was preceded in death by her 2 brothers and a sister-in-law: Don Johnson 

and Dick & Brenda Johnson, brothers-in-law: Joyce Hines and Robert Bay, and 

a sister-in-law, Phyllis Hines.

 

Diana was a 1965 Celina High School graduate.  She had worked at the Rainbow 

Drive-In, Mersman Tables, and the Hart's Store, all formerly of Celina, and the 

former Roger's Flower Shop in Coldwater.  Diana retired from Colonial Nursing 

Center in Rockford, where she had been an Environmental Aide.

 

She was a member of both the Rockford Eagles Aerie #1292 and Celina Aerie #1291, 

and Rockford American Legion Post #508.  Diana enjoyed watching NASCAR races, 

the Cleveland Browns, and a variety of game shows.  

 

She loved spending time with her family, and liked to play board games, and any activity 

with the grandkids.  Diana enjoyed sewing and baking, making biscuits in particular.

 

Calling Hours will be held at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina, 

from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., Saturday, November 6, with Funeral Services to immediately

follow, starting at 3:00.  Pastor Chip Steffy will officiate.

 

A Private Burial will take place at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina, at a later date.

 

Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 

or a charity of the Donor's Choice.
