STANDIFORD
Norma Jean Standiford, 92, of Rockford passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2022 at Divine Nursing and Rehabilitation - Shane Hill in Rockford. She was born on July 24, 1930, in Willshire, to the late Robert and Ruth (Riker) Davis.
On April 09, 1950, she married Richard "Dwight" Standiford, who preceded her in death on September 26, 1975.
Norma Jean worked for over 20 years as a nurse's aide at Shane Hill Nursing Home. Prior to working at Shane Hill, she worked at the Sharp Canning Company and at the Parkway High School Cafeteria where she served food and did dishwashing.
She was a former member of the Grace Missionary Church in Celina and the Grace United Methodist Church in Rockford. She was also a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary, as well as the Order of the Eastern Star.
Some of Norma Jean's favorite pastimes were latch hooking, watching QVC, watching religious shows on Sunday mornings, and visiting with her neighbors.
Surviving are one son, Gene (Roxanne) Standiford of Marysville, Washington; one daughter-in-law, Linda Standiford of Celina, OH; one sister, Rev. Rosemary Wagner of Van Wert, OH; one half brother, Bill Davis of Sparks, Nevada; three grandchildren, Richard D. (Beth) Standiford III of Celina, OH, Breanne (Kennedy) Ivy of San Manuel, Arizona, and Michael Standiford of Madison, Alabama; and four great grandchildren, Stella and Kory Standiford of Celina, OH, and Ellenor and Warren Ivy of San Manuel, Arizona.
In addition to her parents and husband, Norma Jean was preceded in death by one son, Richard D.Standiford, Jr; one great grandchild, Gideon Michael Standiford; and four sisters, Winifred Stout, Louise Henry, Ruth Donovan, and Catherine McClellan.
Graveside services will be held 1:00 pm Monday, December 5, 2022, at Riverside Cemetery, 3750 US-33, Rockford, OH 45882, with Pastor Chip Steffy officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm Sunday, December 4, 2022, at Ketcham Ripley Funeral Home, 111 W. First St, Rockford, OH 45882.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Norma Jean's name may be made to Everheart Hospice, 1350 North Broadway St., Greenville, OH 45331.

POWELL
Jerry W. Powell, age 91, of Celina, passed away at his home on Thursday, November 24, 2022.
He was born May 26, 1931, in Washington Township, Mercer County, to Benjamin F. & Luetta (Curless) Powell.
On February 10, 1952, Jerry married the cutest girl in his third-grade class, Betty L. Highley. Betty passed away only 9 days before him, on November 15th. This year had marked their 70th Wedding Anniversary.
Surviving are their 4 children: Thomas L. (Brenda S.) Powell of Celina, Linda S. (Richard K.) Story of St. Paris, Rhonda E. (Paul A. Agnello) Powell of Columbus, and Doris A. (Gerald A.) Metz of Maumee, 10 grandchildren: Melanie (Todd) Runkle of Wooster, Brian (Stacy) Powell and Cynthia (Rodd) Voisard of Coldwater, Melissa Powell of Celina, Sarah (Dyrs) Owens of Elkhart, IN, Rachel (Thomas) Rogan of Marysville, Sydney (Chad Spisz) Agnello, Kyle (Rachel) Metz, and Katie (Nickolas) Butsko, all of Columbus, and Kurt Metz of Broomfield, CO; 10 great-grandchildren, plus one on the way; a brother, Bill Powell of Portland, IN, sister-in-law, Lois Jean Powell of Rockford, brother-in-law, James (Georgia) Highley of Celina; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers: Richard, Robert, Roger, his twin Jack, and Wright Powell, and sisters: Hope Stein, Mary Jane Wurster, Violet Shirk, Joanne Hellwarth Jutte, Delilah Beams, and Mabel Ellis.
A 1950 graduate of Celina High School, Jerry was an Army veteran, serving on the front lines in Korea. He worked on the family farm until he was 86 years old. During winter downtime on the farm, Jerry worked at Coldwater Meat Service.
Jerry was a longtime member of the Wabash Church until its closing in 2008. At the Wabash Church, he served as Superintendent of Sunday School, was an Adult Sunday School Teacher, and had held numerous church offices. In recent years, Jerry attended the Celina Church of the Nazarene.
He served as a Washington Township Trustee for 24 years, and also served on the boards of the Wabash Telephone Company, Celina Equity, and Mercer County Community Hospital.
Jerry was a member of Celina VFW Post #5713, Coldwater American Legion Post #470, and the Farm Bureau Council. He had traveled to all 50 States, as well as 3 Continents.
Jerry was a very talented woodworker, who made many pieces of furniture, including a grandfather clock. Other projects over the years were rocking horses he made for all of the grandkids and great grandkids, and numerous step stools given as wedding gifts for friends and family.
Jerry enjoyed tomato gardening, beekeeping, hunting, raising homing pigeons, and playing church dartball and volleyball.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 28, at the Celina Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Chris Riffle, officiating.
Burial will follow at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina. Graveside Military Rites will be conducted by Celina VFW Post #5713 and Celina American Legion Post #210.
Calling Hours will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 27, at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina, and an hour prior to time of Services on Monday, at the Nazarene Church.
