CORDIER
Donald L Cordier, 93, of rural Celina, passed away on November 23, 2018,
at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton. Don was born on March 27, 1925, near
Celina, the youngest son of the late George A and Gertrude E Smith
Cordier. He married Doris L Rhoades on January 30, 1955 and she passed
away on April 28, 2015.
He is survived by
his daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Michael Braun, of St Henry. He
is also survived by a brother-in-law, Robert Jackson, of Evans, GA and
several nieces and nephews.
Don was also preceded in death by his brothers Forest, Paul (Marie) and
Earl, and in-laws Dorothy and Lisle Eichenauer and Betty Jackson.
He was a 1943 graduate of Celina Senior High School and a proud veteran
of the US Army, having served in Europe during the Korean Conflict. He
was a grain and dairy farmer, and the owner of Grassy Creek Farms, where
he bred and raised registered Brown Swiss dairy cattle. He enjoyed
showing them on the local and state levels. He had been a member of the
Ohio Brown Swiss Association and a past president and board member of
the All American Swiss Futurity. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post
5713, Celina. He will be remembered for his fierce love of the land, his
good eye for quality dairy cattle, his strong hands and his hard work
ethic.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am – 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 28,
2018 at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina with services to begin immediately
after. Graveside rites with military honors will follow at Swamp College
Cemetery on Karsh Road, Celina. The family requests no flowers or gifts
but instead a donation in Don's name to a favorite charity or to the
Briarwood Village Activities Fund, Coldwater.
