WHITE
David L. “Whiz” White, 73, of Willshire died at 1: 05 p.m. on Sunday, November 10, 2019, at the Laurels of Shane Hill where he had been a patient battling a lengthy illness.

He was born in Celina, Ohio, on August 17, 1946, the son of the late Harold and Dorothy (Zimmerman) White.

He was a Parkway graduate of the Class of 1964, a U.S. Army veteran, proudly serving in the Vietnam Conflict, and a member of the Willshire American Legion Post #207.

After coming home from the service, David began working at B.F. Goodrich Tire, in Woodburn, Indiana, and retired from there.  On May 16, 1970, he married his sweetheart, Becky Suman, whom he was married to for almost 50 years.  David loved fishing, especially in Lake Erie.  He also loved sports of all kinds, and so, he could usually be found in front of the tv, watching his favorite teams.  He enjoyed cooking as well—something he learned while a cook in the service in Vietnam—and enjoyed his numerous trips to Manley’s to get the perfect meats!

Surviving in addition to his wife Becky are their two sons:  Scott White of Monroeville, Indiana and Travis White of Willshire, Ohio; two sisters: Linda (Steve) Ford of Neptune, Ohio and Karen (Ron) Heiser of Decatur, Indiana; two brothers:  Robert White of Decatur, Indiana and Ralph White of Willshire, Ohio, one brother-in-law, Roger Roth of Berne, Indiana, and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased in addition to his parents is a sister, Shirley Roth.

Services will be held Thursday, November 14, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford.  Officiating will be Pastor Brad Kittle, assisted by Steve Ford, David’s brother-in-law.

Burial will follow in Willshire Cemetery, Willshire, Ohio.  Military graveside services will be provided by the Willshire American Legion.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., and on Thursday, 1 hour prior to the funeral.
