LUGABIHL
John E. Lugabihl, 56, of Rockford, Ohio, died at 3:45 a.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at the Van Wert In-Patient Hospice, where he had been a patient for a short time. 

 

He was born on December 13, 1961, in Celina, Ohio, the son of James E. and Carol (Hites) Lugabihl, who survive in Elida, Ohio. 

 

John graduated from Parkway High School in 1980, and worked as a supervisor in shipping and receiving at the Fremont Company in Rockford, Ohio, since August 15, 1983.  He had lived in the area all his life and was a member of the Rockford Shanes Aerie F.O.E. # 1292, where he was a trustee for many years, and a member of the Rockford Sons of the Legion, Glenn D. Eckhart, Post # 508.  John loved fishing, camping, and being on his motorcycle.  He was a very outdoors guy; he was happiest when he was on a bike ride.  John was very involved with the Fox Family Ride for Autism and helped organize the Fox Benefit.  Everything was about his grandson, Eddie—he loved just spending time with him—that was the best! 

 

Surviving in addition to his parents, Jim and Carol are his daughter, Jessica (Charles) Sendelbach of Celina, Ohio; his grandson, Eddie Sendelbach, a brother, Steven E. Lugabihl of Fort Wayne, Indiana, a sister, Joy E. (Charles) Everhardt of Kingston, Georgia, and several nieces and nephews.

 

Celebration of Life will be on Sunday, May 20, starting at Noon at the Rockford Eagles.  All his friends and family are invited to attend.  Condolences may be expressed at ketchamripley.com

 

 

FREELS
Warren A. "Al" Freels, age 75, of rural Mendon, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018, at Lima Memorial Health System.

 

He was born March 27, 1943 in Lancing, Tennessee, to Warren W. & Ruby A. (Mays) Freels.        

 

Al married Susan Hausmann on July 2, 1966, and she survives, along with their sons: David Ray (Diana) Freels of Van Wert and Michael Wesley Freels of Celina, and grandsons: Preston and Dillion Freels.

 

Also surviving are brothers & sisters: Trisha (Jim) Barnes of Venedocia, Wilma Money of Hull, Georgia, Jerry W. (Chris) Freels of New Bremen, Roy E. (Susie) Freels of Harrod, and a sister-in-law & brother-in-law: 

Linda Freewalt of Wapakoneta and Larry Weaver of Mendon.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Marvin D. and Terry E. Freels, and a brother-in-law, Dennis Weaver.

 

A 1961 graduate of Lima Senior High School, Al was an Army Veteran, having served in the United States.  

 

Al was the owner-operator of W.A. Freels Trucking in Mendon. He was a former member of VFW Post #5803 and American Legion Post #178, both in Van Wert.

 

Private graveside services, with military rites, will be conducted at Goodwin Cemetery near Elgin, with Pastor Jason Boroff officiating.

McCULLOUGH

Judith A. McCullough, 79, of Rockford, OH passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018 at her residence.

 

She was born on Sunday, July 10, 1938 in Blue Creek Township, Adams County, IN the daughter of the late Charles Brunstrup and the late Velma (Shaff) Brunstrup. She married Dick McCullough on March 8, 1958 in Union United Methodist Church in rural Decatur.

 

She was a proud graduate of Pleasant Mills High School where she graduated as the salutatorian & was a cheerleader for the Spartans. She had worked at several manufacturing facilities in the area, and at the time of her passing was still employed as a realtor for Lakeshore Realty in Celina, having helped many homeowners in the Celina, Rockford, & Van Wert areas for 30 years.

 

She was a member of Union United Methodist Church where she was the organist for over 50 years and active in the United Methodist Women's Group.

 

Judy's passions were music and education, and she spoke proudly of her grandchildren and their educational and professional accomplishments. She loved all the children that she met, and considered herself to be a surrogate mother and grandmother for dozens of family & friends. Judy had very fond memories of growing up on a farm in Blue Creek Township and maintained a lifelong love of agriculture.

 

Survivors include her husband, Dick McCullough of Rockford, OH; son, Bruce (Lois) McCullough of Sherwood, OH; daughter, Patricia Knight of Rockford, OH; daughter, Pamela (Mike) Jones of Continental, OH; daughter, Melanie (Loren) Shindeldecker of Rockford, OH; sister, Kathy (Mark) Rutledge of Rockford, OH; brother, Tom (Lois) Brunstrup of Monroe, IN; sister-in-law, Sally Chapman of Monroe, IN; sister-in-law, Elizabeth McCullough of Decatur, IN; ten grandchildren, Leanne, Beth, Rachel, Greg, Alex, Kathryn, Samuel, Ian, Richard, & Amanda; six great-grandchildren, Thomas, Henry, Hannah, Gavin, Davis & William; numerous nieces, nephews & close friends.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur with Tom Brunstrup & Pastor Mark Rutledge officiating.

 

Friends will be received from 4-8, Wednesday, May 9 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.

 

Preferred memorials are to CHP Home Care & Hospice in Celina, Ohio.
