Josephine L. Zeik,
86, of Rockford passed away at 2:15 AM on May 17, 2020 at Parkview
Regional Medical Center. She was born on September 11, 1933, in Adams
County, Indiana, to the late Cloyd and Orfa (Coon) Nelson.
On May 25, 1985, she married the love of her life, Frederick D. Zeik,
who passed away on January 14, 2020. Together they shared over 34 years
of memories. She has been a Rockford resident for over 30 years, coming
from Berne, IN.
A graduate of Geneva High School, Josephine went on to retire as an
executive secretary from Micro Precision. Prior to that she worked in
the office of Bixler Insurance. She was a longtime member of St. Teresa
Catholic Church in Rockford, OH.
In her younger years, Josephine could often be found on the links
playing golf. While she never had children of her own, she loved and
adored her nieces and nephews as if they were her own.
She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews, as well as numerous
great, great-great, and great-great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Josephine was preceded in death by her
brothers: Wayne and Harold Nelson; and sisters: Ruby Augsburger, Ruth
Miller and Mary Catherine Nelson.
Because of national health concerns, Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home and the
Josephine's family are following directives outlined by Ohio Governor
Mike DeWine and the Ohio Department of Health.
While family and friends are invited to attend Josephine's graveside
service at 10:30 AM on Friday, May 22, 2020 in Riverside Cemetery,
Rockford, OH, we ask that those who are at most risk, or those feeling
sick, to remain home. Attendees are asked to observe social distancing
and refrain from hugging, kissing, shaking hands and close contact.
There will be a brief viewing graveside from 9:30 AM to service time.
