VANN

 

Fred B. Vann, of Rockford, Ohio, lost his courageous battle with cancer at 11:50 pm on Wednesday, June 30, at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio.

 

He was born on June 25, 1941, in Knoxville, Tennessee to the late Johnny and Rosie Ann Ethel (Davis) Vann On June 8, 1962, he married Gloria Jean Emerson. Together they shared 59 years of marriage.

 

Fred served in the United States Army, and he worked at New Idea Farm Equipment in Coldwater for over 30 years. He was a member of New Horizons Community Church. Fred was hardworking and active in life, who always enjoyed volunteering his time and helping others. He was honored with the Outstanding Senior Citizen of Mercer County award in May of 2011, an honor he so justly deserved. He enjoyed watching comedy and western movies, fishing, and attending his grandchildren's events.

 

Fred is survived by his wife Gloria, son Michael (Darlene) Vann, daughters Pamela (Rob) Wells, Donna (Carey) Huston, and Cheryl (Steve) Hambley. Also surviving is a sister, Donna Houk, 14 grandchildren; and 34 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

 

He is proceeded in death by his son Eugene K. Vann, two brothers John H. and Franklin D. Vann, a sister Betty L. Whitted, and his parents Johnny and Rosie Ann Ethel (Davis) Vann.

 

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, July 5 at New Horizons Community Church, 833 S. Main St, Rockford, OH 45882.

 

Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 PM. Pastor Ken Meyer will be officiating.
