HELLWARTH JUTTE

 

Joanne Hellwarth Jutte, age 91, of Celina, passed away Thursday, 

February 27, 2020, at Celina Manor.

 

She was born April 22, 1928, in Washington Township, Mercer County, 

to Benjamin & Luetta ( Curless ) Powell.

 

Joanne and Maurice Edson Hellwarth were married in 1949, and he

passed away on September 9, 1965.  She married Johnnie T. Jutte

in 1979, and he preceded her in death September 12, 2015. 

 

She is survived by two daughters: Diane ( Raymond ) Tomko 

of Cleveland and Deborah Gephart of Placerville, CA, 

daughter-in-law, Diana M. Hellwarth of Celina, 

grandchildren: Terry Michael ( Billie Jo ) Hellwarth of St. Henry, 

Tracy Marie ( Trent ) Hamrick of Rockford, Tara Martell 

( Jeffrey ) Davis of Belle Center, and Tiffany Markel Hellwarth 

of Troy, great grandchildren: Zachary ( Amanda ) Hellwarth, 

Logan ( Macy ), Peyton, & Ashton Hamrick, Lane & Brittan 

Crutchfield, and Zander Dennis, and great-great grandchildren:

Hazel Marie Hellwarth and Hudson Michael Hamrick.

 

Also surviving are two brothers: Jerry ( Betty ) Powell of Celina 

and Bill ( Shirley ) Powell of Portland, IN, a sister-in-law, Jean 

Powell of Rockford, step-daughter, Charlene ( Jim ) Westgerdes 

of Fort Recovery, and many nieces & nephews. 

   

Preceding Joanne in death was her son: Larry M. Hellwarth, who died 

December 14, 2015, brothers & sisters: Richard Powell, Hope Stein, 

Mary Jane Wurster, Bobby Powell, Violet Shirk, Roger Powell and 

Jack Powell, half-siblings: Delilah Beams, Mabel Ellis and Wright Powell, 

sister & brothers-in-law: Dallas West, LaVaun Howick and Don Hellwarth, 

and a step-son, Don Jutte.

 

Joanne was a homemaker, and had retired from Reynolds & Reynolds 

in Celina, after 35 years of service.  

 

Joanne was a very active member of Mt. Tabor Church of God, Celina, 

participating in the Ladies Ministry and weekly Bible Study group.  

She assisted with fundraisers and quilting for the missions, and served 

on the funeral dinner committee.

 

Joanne was a wonderful cook, baker, seamstress, and quilter.  

She was an avid gardener, loved to travel, do crafts, and enjoyed 

caring for her grandchildren.

 

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 4, 

at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina.  

Rev. Richard Van Horn will officiate.  Burial will follow 

at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina.  

 

Calling Hours are 1:00-3:00 & 5:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 3, and 

an hour before time of services on Wednesday, at the Funeral Home.
