Kenneth E. Slorp, 87, of
Celina, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday,
February 1, 2023 at Mercer Health in Coldwater.
He was also
preceded in death by a brother, William Slorp. Kenny was a 1954 graduate of West Alexandria High School in West Alexandria, Ohio. After high school he served in the Army National Guard. He retired from New Idea in Coldwater after 31 years of service. He was active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina, Coldwater and Celina Eagles and a retire member of USWA Union. Kenny was also big supporter of Celina Boosters. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, hunting, boating, being outside, NASCAR and helping clean the lake.
Mass of Christian
Burial will begin at 10:30 am on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at the
Immaculate Conception Church in Celina with Fr. John Tonkin
officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:00 am – 10:00 am at
the funeral home Wednesday morning. Burial will follow
at Mercer Memory Garden in Celina. Memorial
contributions can be made to the Immaculate Conception Church Endowment

THURSTON Survivors include
her children, Julie (Jeremy) Smith, New Knoxville, Duane (Xuan)
Thurston, California and Joseph (Arlene) Thurston, Nevada; a sister,
Dorothy (Merlin) Grone-Trentmen, Delphos; a brother, Robert (Virginia)
Hoenie, Texas; and 7 grandchildren, Anne Thurston, Amanda Thurston, AJ
Thurston, Gabriel Thurston, Maximus Thurston, Brandon Smith and Kaitlin
Smith. June was also
preceded in death by a sister, Clara Rose Hoenie. She was 1960
graduate of Celina High School and went on to study at a trade school
where she specialized in accounting. She worked at Reynolds and
Reynolds in Celina and owned her own tax accounting service for 30
years. She moved to New Knoxville in 2019 to be closer to her daughter and attended New Knoxville United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir. She was a member of the Sunshine Singers. June enjoyed
sewing, gardening, singing, but she especially loved traveling out west
to visit family as well as her brother in Texas. Funeral services
will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Cisco Funeral
Home in Celina with Rev. Dennis Gaertner officiating; where the family
will receive friends from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm prior to the services at
the funeral home. Graveside services
will follow at North Grove Cemetery in Celina. Memorial
