Willshire native, Karen A. (Hoverman) Gehron, 81, of North Star, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022, at the Village Green Healthcare Center in Greenville.
She was born June 10, 1941, in Willshire, to Merl & Lilly Irene (Strickler) Hoverman.
Karen and Willard E. Gehron were united in marriage on December 27, 1959, in Willshire.
Surviving are their 4 children: Michael (Christine) Gehron of Vandalia, Christie (Bill) Rindler and Deb Stewart, both of Rossburg, and Annette Shroyer of Willshire; her sister: Sharon (Farrel) Krall of Willshire; 11 grandchildren: Kelli Simpkins of Jacksonville, FL, Stacie (Dustin) Cornwell of Dayton, Beth (Alex) Hohler of Rossburg, Bill Rindler of Troy, Nicole (Carlton) Maughan of San Antonio, TX, Melinda (Andy) Ooten of Miamisburg, Danielle Gehron of Columbia City, IN, Faith (Tanner) Smith of Van Wert, Chad Rindler of Muncie, IN, Willard Shroyer of Willshire, and Hope (Clint) Morgan of Englewood; 13 great-grandchildren: Dillon, Spencer, Bennett, Luke, Emma, Jackson, Landon, Chloe, Leigha, Jordynn, Paislee, Bellamee and Bailey; and sisters-in-law: Corda Leeper of North Star and Margaret Miles of Greenville.
She was preceded in death by her husband on October 19, 2020; her parents; parents-in-law: Dan & Anna Gehron; a son-in-law: Jack Stewart; sister-in-law: Berniece (Lewis) Rhoades, and brothers-in-law: Melvin (Marie) Gehron, Minor Leeper, and Tom Miles.
Karen was a 1959 Willshire High School graduate. She retired from Corning Glass Works in Greenville. Karen had been a member of the former North Star Congregational Christian Church, then joined the Greenville Missionary Church. She belonged to the North Star Fire Department Auxiliary.
Karen enjoyed reading and camping, and meeting other Corning Glass retirees each month for breakfast at Bob Evans. Most of all, she loved spending time with family, particularly her grandkids and great grandkids. Karen would light up whenever they came to visit.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 21, at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina, with Pastor Gary Oser, officiating. Burial will follow at Willshire Cemetery.
Calling Hours are from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 20, and before Services on Wednesday, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., at the Funeral Home.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the North Star Fire Department Auxiliary.
