HAMMOND

 

James “Jim - Hambone” L. Hammond, age 58, of Celina, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2022 at Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.  He was born October 15, 1964 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. 
 

Jim is survived by his life partner, Jennifer Zumberge, Celina;  mother, Marilyn La Lond, Oshkosh, Wisconsin; children, Jesse (Liz) Hammond, Bellefontaine, Casey (Kat Kimmel) Hammond, St. Marys, Carla (Jesse Vagedes) Thobe, Coldwater, Tiffany Hammond, Celina, Tyler “TJ” Hammond, Iowa and Janelle (Joey) Homan, Springboro; two brothers, Sam (Michelle) Hammond, Celina and Jon (Sarah) Hammond, Wisconsin; a sister, Mary Hammond, Wisconsin; two half-sisters, Connie Mitchell and Debbie Miller, both of Wisconsin; grandchildren, Isiah, Elijah, Roman, Jonah, Dylan, Bryson, Aiden, Gage, Noah, Caden, Ashton, Braylon, Nolan, Owen, Devin, Leyton, Elly, Cash, Tommy, Emmett, Mikayla and Zoey;  and one great granddaughter, Jade. 
 

He is preceded in death by his father, Leslie Hammond; a brother, Tim Hammond; and a half sister, Kathy Thiel. 


He was a member of Celina VFW Post # 5713. Jim was a proud father and grandfather and loved spending time with his family.  He also enjoyed, being outdoors, hunting, fishing, lawn care, hot rods, and watching NASCAR and the Green Bay Packers. 


Funeral services will begin on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at 7:00 pm at the funeral home with Rev. Diane Mendelson officiating; where the family will receive friends from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm prior to the services at the funeral home. 
 

Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the Hammond family.

ROSS

 

Steven W. Ross age 73, of Celina, Ohio, passed away at Miami County Hospice, Troy, Ohio on Friday, December 16, 2022, with his wife of 41 years by his side.  He was born June 3, 1949, in Van Wert, Ohio, to Joseph D. Ross and Eloise M. (Waltz) Ross. 

On June 20, 1981, Steve married Dayle (DeCamp) Kramer of Celina, Ohio.
 

Surviving are four children: Steven Enrique Ross, Madrid, Spain, Amanda N. (Larry A.) McKeever of Beavercreek, Ohio, Daniel N. Ross, Celina, Ohio and Thomas L. (Jodi) Ross of Ft. Loramie, Ohio.  Steve leaves behind grandchildren: Alexander, Allison and Olivia McKeever, Beaver Creek, Ohio, Gus, Dakota, Mireya Ross and all his many foster grandchildren of Ft Loramie, Ohio.  Also surviving is his sister Gina (Kevin) Garabedian of Woodland Hills, California, sister-in-law, Karen (David) Frenzer, Celina, Ohio, Teresa (Brian) Dutremaine, McAllen, Texas.  Stepbrother, William (Joanie) Ziegler and stepbrother, Jeffrey (Mary) Ziegler both of Columbus, Ohio. 
 

Preceding Steve in death were his parents, Joseph D. (Eloise M.) Ross, stepmother, Peggy Ross and brother, Eric J. Ross.


Steve worked after school and many summers for Joe Ross Pipeline Construction Company (their family business).  He graduated in 1968 at Van Wert High School.  In 1969 he enlisted in the US Army and remained in active duty until 1973.  Stationed in Germany he was a Field Radio Mechanic and Field Radio Repairman in the Army National Security agency.  Steve also served 1 year in the Army National Guard, Van Wert, Ohio and 1 year Army National Guard, St. Marys, Ohio. 
 

Steve attended North Western Business College, Lima, Ohio on evenings while working as a lineman for United Telephone, Van Wert, Ohio.  He then was an Inspector for United Telephone, Greenville, Ohio.  Steve retired from Veyance Technologies, formerly Good Year Tire and Rubber, St. Marys, Ohio. 
 

Steve enjoyed fishing, hunting, archery and using the Atlatl (predecessor to archery).  Steve loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  He was a good man, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. 
 

Steve, until we meet again, Godspeed!
 

Private services and celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the Ross family.
