ANDERSON

 

Leota May Anderson, 71, of Ohio City, Ohio, died Thursday night, August 23, 2018, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where she was a patient. 

 

She was born on February 17, 1947, in Mercer County, Ohio, to Noel Orlando and Edith (Brehm) Brush. 

 

She was a graduate of Parkway High School, the Class of 1966. 

 

On September 27, 1969, she married Steve Anderson, and he survives in Ohio City. 

 

Leota had worked for North America Phillips Lighting in Van Wert, Ohio, and then worked 29 years at Wal-Mart in Van Wert, Ohio, where she worked in the Fitting Room department.

 

Leota lived all her life in the area, where she was known as “The Cake Lady”.  She baked wedding cakes and all-occasion cakes—any and all kinds, and truly had a knack for making them very special and delighting the people which she made them for.  She also baked cookies, breads, and her pumpkin rolls, which she was famous for!  She had even had a special article in the local paper telling about her famous pumpkin rolls and other baked goods.

 

Leota is survived by her husband, Steve, of almost 49 years; a sister, Mary Lou Early of Van Wert, Ohio; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Linda and Floyd Hamman; and special nieces and nephews, Tim and Betty Anderson, and Troy Baldwin and Kevin Baldwin; and several great nieces and nephews. 

 

Deceased in addition to her parents, Noel and Edith is a daughter April Nichole Anderson, a brother, Eddie Brush, and 3 infant brothers.

 

Services will be held on Monday, August 27, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford.  Burial will follow in Mercer Cemetery, Mercer, Ohio. 

 

Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-8 p.m., and on Monday, 1 hour prior to the service.  

 

Memorials may be directed to the American Red Cross.
