MUETHER
 

George W. Muether, age 96, of Celina, Ohio, passed away at the Gardens of Celina with his family by his side at 8:05 am on August 28, 2019.  He was born February 22, 1923 in Celina to the late George W. and Wilhelmina (Gertz) Muether.  On January 27, 1951 he married Esther (Bruns) Muether and she preceded him in death on March 21, 2003. 

 

George was a loving father to two children, George P. (Judy) Muether, Celina, and Deborah A. (Ron) Miller, Celina; nine grandchildren; and twenty four great grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Harry Muether; and three sisters, Elma Muether, Norma Winemiller, and Dorothy Muether.

 

George was a 1941 graduate from Celina Senior High School.  He served his country in the United States Army during the WWII era.  He retired after working for 38 years as an electrician with IBEW Union Local #32, Lima, working mainly for Heckler Electric and Sidney Electric. 

He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church and the Eagle Aerie #1291; and a life member of the American Legion Post #210, VFW Post #5713, and Celina Moose #1473, all of Celina.  

 

George was a devoted husband and father, a fun-loving grandfather, and had many great friends. 

 

George’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the State of the Heart Hospice.

 

Visitation will take place at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina on Friday, August 30, 2019, from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm.  Where the Celina VFW and the Celina American Legion membership services will be held at 7:00 pm. 

 

Mass of Christian Burial and celebration of his life will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday morning, August 31, 2019, in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Celina Fr. Tim McFarland, C.PP.S. officiating.   The family will receive friends from 9:00 am – 9:45 am prior to the mass at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina. 

 

Burial will follow at Mercer Memory Garden, Celina, where military honors will be provided by the Celina American Legion Post #210 and Celina VFW Post #5713.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to State of the Heart Hospice, 230 W. Main St., Coldwater, OH 45828.

 

Funeral services have been entrusted to Cisco Funeral Homes, Celina.

HOUSER

Thelma A. Houser, age 82, of Mendon, passed away 

Wednesday, August 28, 2019, at Joint Township District 

Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.

 

She was born December 21, 1936, in Auglaize County,

to the late James & Matilda (Hebert) Sampson. 

 

Thelma married James D. Houser on July 7, 1956,

and he preceded her in death December 5, 2008.

 

She is survived by 7 children: Richard (Debra) Sampson 

of Forest, Joseph Houser of Celina, Patrick Houser and 

Daniel (Shyla) Houser of Mendon, Debra (James) Dotson 

of Pensacola, FL, Lynn (Roger) Sell of Rockford, and 

Shirley (Travis) Dicke of Ohio City, 18 grandchildren, 

29 great grandchildren, and 5 brothers & sisters: 

Merle Sampson of Swanton, Albert (Catherine) Sampson

of Dublin, Jean Young of Van Wert, Shirley (Clay) Davis 

of Lima, and Matilda Washburn of Saint Marys. 

    

Preceding her in death were 2 sons: Dennis and Terry Houser,

a grandson, Jordan Houser, 2 infant grandsons, and 3 brothers:  
James, Bernard, and George Sampson.

 

A homemaker, Thelma enjoyed gardening, reading, and taking

care of her grandkids.

 

Funeral Services will be held at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth

Funeral Home in Mendon, at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 31.   

Pastor Randy Christian will officiate.  

 

Burial will follow at Swamp College Cemetery, near Celina.

 

Calling Hours are 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 30, and 

10:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, at the funeral home in Mendon.
