Mendon native Elsie E. Laffin, age 83, passed away at her home in Lima on Friday, April 14, 2017. 


She was born December 13, 1933 in Mendon,  to the late Richard & Alma (Rhoades) Skiles.


Elsie married Rev. Kenneth E. Laffin on August 3, 1951, and he preceded her in death on April 18, 2011.


She is survived by her Children: Keith (Lori) Laffin of Bedford, Brian (Alicia) Laffin of Brunswick and Brenda 

(Jeff) Harrison of Lima, a Brother, Richard Jr. (Marie) Skiles of Meridian, Idaho, 8 Grandchildren, 2 Great 

Grandchildren, 2 Step-Grandchildren, 1 Step-Great Grandchild, and Brothers-in-law: Jerry (Nancy L.) Laffin of Coldwater and Robert (Nancy K.) Laffin of Celina.


She was preceded in death by a granddaughter.


Elsie supported her husband in his ministry that had begun in 1951. As a Church of God pastor, Rev. Laffin 

served at Mount Tabor and Fairview, Celina; Sugar Ridge, Convoy; Olive Branch, Rockford; Union Chapel, Bryan; 

and the Ney Church of God.


She also served on many conferences for the Churches of God General Conference.  Elsie was a member of the College 

First Church of God in Findlay and a 1951 Graduate of Mendon-Union High School


Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 19, at Mount Tabor Church of God, Celina, with Pastors David Green 

and William Reist officiating. Burial will follow at Mendon Cemetery.


Calling Hours are 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina, and an hour prior to time 

of services on Wednesday, at the church.
